Tell us about yourself

I’m from the East of London, I am 23 years old and I have a passion for gardening.

Why did you decide to do the course?

I wanted to develop and learn skills relevant to help me find work and improve my personal skills.

What did the course involve?

On the course I had regular one to one session with my tutor and took part in group learning exercises.

What have you gained from undertaking the course?

So much knowledge. I particularly enjoyed and learned lots around health and safety, environmental awareness and communicating with people.

What impact has the course made to your life?

The course has made me a lot more employable. I can see a big difference in confidence from what it was before and feel that I am able to interact with people, particularly those I don’t know better. The course has also made my CV better and I am getting more interviews as a result of this.

How did JIF Training support you during your programme?

The JIF tutors helped me when I was stuck and explained the questions in ways that supported my understanding. I have dyslexia and find talking easier than reading and writing. JIF made sure the teaching for me was delivered this way, I am very thankful for their support as I don’t think I would have been able to complete the course without their help.

How would you rate JIF Training?

The resources are really good, staff are helpful and kind. I struggle with my mental health some days and they went out their way to help me.

What are your plans now after completing the course?

I am now looking for full time work. I have an interview soon and I am confident that I will get the job. I know my certificates are what the employer is looking for.
